53 Years Together... My Home Away from Home ...but Wait!
/So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us.
God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God,
and God abides in him. 1 John 4:16 ESV
To John, my “home” away from home … but not really. Rather my “home” WITHIN our “real HOME.”
Since Jesus is our real Home… and since we both abide/dwell/live in Him right now, we are an earthly refuge, a safe place, a home for each other while we are still in our earthly abode. We are a place where we can be fully ourselves …safely.
Thank you for being that to me, John, especially this year of all years. We could “rant and rave” with each other over all the shocking craziness out there … often where we least expected it.
Oh how great that we could safely do that and be received and heard and grieved with and laughed with and even cried with.
You have been and always will be the perfect one for me… because you are God’s choice. But wait a minute …you asked me!
As author Dan Stone says, “Marriage is God’s trick.”
And as I always say, “An only child you (introvert, engineer type) marrying the oldest of 7 me (“boss of the mob”) is God’s joke.
So let’s keep laughing, loving, and living “together” (last year’s key word). as long as God gives us life on this earth.
Amen.
My people will live in safety, quietly at home.
They will be at rest.
