Can You Start a Revival through Old People? A morning conversation with my FRIEND
/Those who know me, know I take my early morning thoughts seriously. Years ago I asked the Holy Spirit to take those anxiety-prone, “to do list-driven” thoughts and bring them to the feet of my Friend and King, my Abba Father God. And He has and He does day by day. And He often speaks to me in those “early in my day” thoughts.
So as reports of a move of the Spirit at Asbury University (Kentucky) and now at Cedarville University (Ohio) exploded the internet, this was my conversation with my FRIEND this morning:
Me: Lord, can You start a revival in and through OLD people?
GOD: Not as easily as through young people. People don’t pay attention to older people.
You are invisible to younger people. Old people are expected to be “religious,” because you are “closer to death” and the unknown.
Young people are typically externally focused and world-conscious (but they really do struggle with inward things; therefore, the high suicide rates and mental illness).
BUT, you need to know, Jan …
You older people are NOT invisible to Me. I have seen you and held you every day of your journey on this earth.
Now as your body is aging and wearing down, you can experience even more clearly the revival that has been going on all the time in your inner person.
So we have no reason to despair. Despite the fact that our outer humanity is falling apart and decaying, our inner humanity is breathing in new life every day. You see, the short-lived pains of this life are creating for us an eternal glory that does not compare to anything we know here. So we do not set our sights on the things we can see with our eyes. All of that is fleeting; it will eventually fade away. Instead, we focus on the things we cannot see, which live on and on.
2 Cor 4:16-18 The Voice
So commune with Me there, and it will feel like a fresh revival in your soul every day. The revival has been there all along, because I HAVE BEEN THERE IN YOU all the time.
Me: O thank you, my God.
