Walking Wobbly in this World
/ . . .we have not ceased to pray for you,
asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord,
fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work
Colossians 1:9-10 ESV
I’m walking wobbly these days. Intermittent vertigo and bouts of mild dizziness have been mine as I go about my daily life — difficult because I never know when it will hit (two times while driving were terrifying).
So changes have been made, especially since the testing determined that a couple of small strokes (past) in the balance area of my brain are likely the cause of my symptoms. Scary but good to know and now to process.
Coming to grips with weakness and aging and mortality can produce a perspective that has been fine-tuned and deep and rich. And so this is happening afresh and anew for me.
I’m listening for the Voice of my indwelling Shepherd ever more closely.
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
John 10:27 NLT
And asking Him, “Are these the ‘good things’ YOU have for me to do at this stage of my life?”
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10 NLT
And thankfully, I can “walk worthy” (see Colossians 1:10 above), even while I “walk wobbly” in this world.
My stability is fixed!
I am HIS and HE is mine.
I am in HIM, my ROCK,
and HE is in me, His dwelling place and feeble instrument in my wobbly world..
Can I ask you, my friend, “What is your wobble?” Is it . . .
physical — chronic physical illnesses and handicap. . .
emotional — anxiety, depression, loneliness. . .
relational — excluded, separation, divorce, widowhood, estrangement. . . ?
No matter what it is, why not join me in “walking wobbly” and “walking worthy” in our Stable One — our indwelling Lord Jesus Christ by the power of the Spirit.
Lord God, our Rock and our Stability,
We walk in you today. We rest in You. We abide in You. We cling to You. We snuggle down deep in YOU today.
Lead us in Your path for us, no matter how wobbly it may be.
We trust YOU, our only Hope and Surety.
In Jesus Name. Amen.
And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us.We were given this hope when we were saved.
Romans 8:23-24 NLT
That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NLT

O yeh, Jesus!
Thank you, dear Mari for sharing your grandma’s song. Perfect!
I can’t walk without YOU, O my LORD!
Praising our ROCK, our FORTRESS, our DELIVERER
A sweet song from the 1970”s during those amazing Jesus Movement days at the U. of Arizona. I had forgotten this one!
