Joy for a Lonely Soul: a Living Prayer
/So many in my circle of friends, family, and other "loved ones," are in the midst of suffering and loss. Perhaps for them, once the initial support of others starts to dwindle, there can settle in a deep aloneness. Maybe at times, God Himself seems distant...even absent.
We all have to admit we feel lonely at times even when all is going along peacefully.
So for all of us then...a song and a book.
First the backstory of the song...
The other day my husband and I went to BellHOP Cafe in Bellbrook to enjoy food, fellowship, and our first ever Bluegrass music concert (I had fallen in love with Bluegrass music and "hillbillies" in general through our students, Mason and Terry, in our GED class.)
Well, a darling group of young gals, called Lafferty Pike, (would you believe sisters all) were performing at BellHOP that evening. In the midst of rousing, lively, fun tunes, these ladies "nestled" a treasure of a song, performing it with sweetness and heart. And it captured my mind and my own heart. So of course, I had to find it on youtube when we returned home that evening.
So here it is. Whether you are lonely or not, relish this precious gift of a song, celebrating our union with the One who is with us in every possible way, on every level imaginable!
A Living Prayer
In this world I walk alone with no place to call my home
But there's One who holds my hand
The rugged road through barren lands
The way is dark, the road is steep
But He's become my eyes to see
The strength to climb, my griefs to bear
The Savior lives inside me there
In your love I find release
A haven from my unbelief
Take my life and let me be
A living prayer my God to thee
In these trials of life I find
Another voice inside my mind
He comforts me and bids me live
Inside the love the Father gives
In your love I find release
A haven from my unbelief
Take my life and let me be
A living prayer my God to thee
take my life and let me be
A living prayer my God to thee
And now the book...
At the risk of appearing self-serving, I want to invite you to read my book, The With-ness of our God: Relationship in Every Dimension,...not because I wrote it but because it reveals a God who is intimately and securely united with us in every possible way.
If you are struggling to feel connected to the Lord, though you may know in your head you belong to Him, please consider this little volume. In it you will receive manna for your heart, not just your head. You will find not only simple, practical instruction, but also meditation, stories for application, questions for journaling and just pondering...and more.
Or maybe you aren't struggling but just want to go deeper...this is for you too. You can dive into the deep or stay on the surface...your choice.
And the book is very accessible and affordable. You can purchase on online (see links). Locally, volumes can be purchased at BellHOP Cafe for just $14.00. And I've priced the ebook at the lowest allowed, $3.99 or even less on some on-line sites.
So please take a look and consider walking with us on this journey into The With-ness of our God: Relationship in Every Dimension.
And thank you for your grace!
